Overview
Hex Flora is the mark for my own studio. It puts the two halves of the work in one shape: structured hexagons for the design and code, a loose line-drawn flower for the painting and illustration.
The brief
It needed to work as a tiny favicon and as a large print, in one colour or in full colour, and to feel handmade rather than generated.
Creative direction
The hexagons are translucent so their overlaps create new colours, the way paint does. The flower is drawn in a single pass with a brush pen and left slightly imperfect.
Process
Pencil sketches → brush pen linework → vector cleanup → colour and mono versions → favicon and social crops.
